Youth Festival for Ethical Voting at Greater Noida

Ahead of the upcoming UP assembly election, The District Administration is organizing a one-day workshop on voter awareness-Youth Festival for Ethical Voting on Jan 23, 2017 at Knowledge Park Area, Greater Noida.

10,000 students from different colleges, universities, and academic institutions are expected to attend voter awareness workshop in Greater Noida.

The purpose of the Youth Festival for Ethical Voting is to inform and educate the young and first time voters about the voting processes and its importance. Young voters need to be aware of the corrupt practices and also share the information among their peer groups for a healthy democracy.

Kumar Vineet, ADM (Executive), & Deputy District Election Officer, GBN, said, “We will inform the students that distribution of money, liquor, food, or any other item among the electors is a crime. This is also an offence which can draw fine and imprisonment up to one year”.  

Basically, this youth voter festival is organized to enhance knowledge of youth on electoral process.

There are around 18,276 registered voters in the age group of 18-19 years and 3,26,871 in the age group of 20-29 years in the district.

The District Gautam Budh Nagar consists of 3 assembly constituencies of Noida, Jewar, and Dadri. It has a total of 12.52 lakh voters. The administration has added 58,596 new voters in the electoral rolls in the last revision.
