Greater Noida Metro Work Progress


Chairman Rama Raman said this while inaugurating week-long celebrations to mark the 24th Foundation Day of Greater Noida at City Park here. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) was set up on January 28, 1991. “There is a need to improve the public transport system. Efforts are being made to start work on new Metro rail system would be developed between Noida and Greater Noida by 2017. Work is projected to start from May 2014.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and UP Government inking the extension of Metro Rail to Greater Noida, the construction on this corridor is expected to gain momentum. The construction work of 29.7-kilometre stretch could be started in May this year as the Greater Noida Industrial development Authority (GNIDA), in its board meeting, cleared the last hurdle by approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Detailed Project Report (DPR). The construction work will be carried by newly formed Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). A total Rs 5,097 crore will be spent on the project out of which 50 per cent will be funded by the Centre Government and the remaining will be borne by both authorities.

In view of the enormous pressure of passenger traffic on Noida-Greater Noida route and projected population of over 15 lakh in Noida and around 12 lakh in Greater Noida by the year 2021, a clean and smooth public transport facility, matching the transport infrastructure of Greater Noida, is urgently required in the area.

Metro-Layout-Plan-Noida-Greaternoida-Metro-Route-1024x723Starting from Noida City Centre in Sector 32, the proposed Metro corridor will lead towards Greater Noida via stations in sectors 50, 51, 78, 101, 81, on the Dadri road, 83, 85, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 153 & sector 149 in Noida. The line will extend from City Center, Sector 32, and terminate at Depot Station (Bodaki) Greater Noida.


A total 22 stations are proposed, of which 13 will be constructed on ground while seven stations will be elevated. It will enter Greater Noida through Knowledge Park-II and traverse Pari Chowk, Sector-Alpha 1 and 2, before terminating at Depot station proposed near recreational green, Knowledge Park-IV in Greater Noida. Entire Metro alignment is proposed to be elevated. Two stations at Knowledge Park-I and sector Delta-1 in Greater Noida are planned for future expansion. According to the DMRC and the authority’s estimates, nearly 65,000 passengers are expected to use the Metro every day.
